Default back ground in my viv

hi. could anyone tell me if the polly back ground inside my viv could harm
my gecko. the sand that i use has got dark grains on top where the
crickets have been eating it . at least i think thats what they are doing.
i am using an exo terra 60x45x45. and i am finding crickets on my floor. dont know how as i have checked for holes but can`t see any. i can handle wondering crickets but the noise they make when eating polly back ground is doing my nut in. any help would be great . many thanx mikey....

Yeah I suffer from exo terra cricket symdrome also. The backing of the viv is great for certain geckos to climb on and the rockface look gives a more naturalistic look.

I'm sure the crickets are eating the backing, if they are doing that then you don't want your gecko eating them after gut loading on polystyrene.

You can try blocking the two gaps at the top and bottom with cardboard etc.. to stop the crickets from hiding behind the background. I have did this as well as putting less crickets in and checking the back.

    Hope this helps.

cheers paul . i have got sand blocking the lower holes. i have no cables or anything going
into the top of viv. i have noticed the crickets climb up to the gap between polly back & roof. the 2 slides at ends like bolts are in the closed position. so who knows?
cheers for your help mate. all the best. mikey......

Default viv back ground- no more

    [
i have took the back ground out of my viv . when i inspecteed the back ground there was holes all over it. like you said you don`t want your geckos feeding on crickets that have been eating the pollystyrene backing. it was not till i noticed that my calcium sand was all black at the back of the viv. and the noise of the crickets eating away at it was really bad. no problems now though. i priced the back ground on e-bay and it`s priced for a tenner. anyone wanting mine can have it for free. getting plenty of sleep now. noise free viv ( bliss ).
    cheers again. mikey......
