Default Drive down south and back!

I'm going down South to get some reptiles in Locking and also Bolton. Anyone needing anything on that route brought back up?

I'll be visiting this store on Saturday: www.ajreptiles.co.uk

Let me know if there is anything they have that you would like!

Hi, I was trawling the forum looking for advice on transporting geckos etc for long distances and I found this post. Is it safe and easy enough to transport geckos for such a long drive, and how do you go about it? Thanks! :)

    Thanks for your reply!
How would you regulate the temperatures? We just bought a new car and it doesn't have a cigarette lighter socket so heating via that is not an option. However the car does get pretty toastie so my main concern would be keeping him/her cool. Any suggestions on how to do this would be great! The journey would be from Dundee down to South West England - so a pretty long drive! :)

i transport snakes and a few other things up and down the country, i use a big polysterene box i got my rats delivered in a good while ago, its rather big, i put heat mats in it and regulate them with a mat stat, and put the animals in small containers , along with a few digital thermometers, an invertor that runs off your car easily runs the mat stat and heat mat, been doing it for years and never had a problem, keeps the animals at the right temps, the heat of the car doesnt affect inside the polysterene box. I usually have one digital thermometer with probe inside box so that i keep the display on the outside to prevent the box from being opened all the time.

alternatively a polysterene box with a few of these may work but you would really need to keep your eye on the temps with them Tropical fish and Reptile Heat Packs

my boas came from america with these in the transportation box they are ace, i also keep loads of them incase of powercuts.

    hope this helps

    Hey Linda,

Thanks for your advice! I'd have to use the heat packs as I don't have the cigarette lighter point in my car, I guess to cool them down if it did get too hot they could be cooled using some sort of ice pack too?
    Thanks again!

    Rachel :)

trust me you wont need cool packs, all you do is take out the heat packs, remember to watch wot heat packs you buy and you dont place them anywhere near the reps or their tubs as they can get hot.

Ah ok then! Thanks, thats one less thing to worry about before getting a leopard gecko then! I only ask as we might relocate down to England in a few years and didn't want to have to sell the gecko if we did. Thanks again :D
